Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Zero-Pak®.
"How does gel-ice work longer than regular ice?"
Zero-Pak® gel-ice improves on regular ice by staying cold longer. The special formulation in Zero-Pak® functions as “built-in” insulation that reliably provides efficient, gradually released temperature protection for perishable products.
"Are Zero-Pak® cold packs in picnic coolers or lunch boxes safe for kids?"
Yes. Zero-Pak® refrigerant gel-ice, although not for human consumption, is a safe, non-toxic product.
"Is Zero-Pak® gel allowed to come in contact with food?"
Yes. The Government of Canada has approved Zero-Pak® refrigerant gel-ice for use in food shipments. Also, Zero-Pak® gel-ice is manufactured with ingredients included in the USFDA GRAS List as safe food additives. In addition to its non-toxic, biodegradable formulation, Zero-Pak® Products uses a two-stage antibacterial process for maximum safety in shipping food products.
"Can Zero-Pak® also protect frozen as well as fresh products?"
Zero-Pak® Products manufactures refrigerant cold packs to protect fresh perishable products as well a low temperature formulation to protect frozen products, such as novelty ice cream and biological products.
"Why is gel-ice better for air shipments?"
Wet ice in airlines is generally prohibited for safety reasons associated with water from melting ice. Also, since it takes less Zero-Pak® to do the job compared to regular ice, significant weight savings mean less shipping cost and more profit for shippers.
